Those sunken eyes, the toothless glumness, the arthritic hands, the oversized overcoat… He looks to me like a frail and vulnerable old man, reliant on the person next to him. Not completely able any more to enjoy the cup of coffee as he would have done in the past. I wonder what he has lived through, what his eyes are looking at? He appears to be looking past what we can see…
It was a privilege to draw this old fellow, he is weary, sighing after every step. He must have lived through a lot, at least one world war. I think he’s worried about what he sees around him, the way things are today, and the pace of change. Thanks for dropping in. Russell.
Thanks thelaundrywench! It’s taken a lot of hard work, and hundreds of bad drawings to get this far. Still have a lot of work to do. Thank you for commenting. Russell.
The young ladies are just in the background, he only has eyes for his beloved wife, wonder how long they’ve been married? Always good to hear from you, Russell.
I like his expression a lot.The way his eyes look like it’s just so sweet but sad/worried. It reminds me of someone who used to live in my neighborhood… :)
Hi russell, U have quite a unique style, I’ve not seen anything quite like it before. Nice one. And thanks for the like too.
